Visual Ballads Program
May 2018 - January 2020
Conservation Made Simple brought Visual Ballads under our 501c3 umbrella in May of 2018. The goal was simple: help give structure, advice, and a boost towards success. The creator of Visual Ballads, Bryant Carlin, had a very ambitious goal to document the Olympic National Park in the most comprehensive way ever! We believed this idea would help many understand how Climate Change, logging, and human encroachment effected this part of Washington State. We have listed below the summary of our partnership...
"Visual Ballads is a dynamic and evolving photography-based project. It will translate the experience of one man trekking alone through the Olympic National Forest into a story of changing environmental conditions and the ecological impact of man-made climate change. Conservation Made Simple will publish images, short films, and the projected impacts of climate change on the Olympic National Forest to interest groups and media followings. Visual Ballads will be a vital tool in communicating the immediacy of climate-related policy to citizens, organizers, and public officials in a way they can observe, not just absorb."
As both organizations involved had completed what they desired out of the partnership, it made the most sense to part ways. In January of 2020, Visual Ballads split back out on its own and pursue its goals as its own entity. Bryant continues to this day to document and illustrate the Olympic National Park better than has ever been done. Watch the video linked below to see a peak into the project...

Turtle Tribe Program
2019 Nesting Season
Conservation Made Simple partnered with Water and Light International in 2019 to start a Sea Turtle Hatchling Program in Salinas Grande, Nicaragua. The goal of the program was to employ someone to collect sea turtle eggs from the beach and market so that people were unable to dig them up or buy them to eat. The eggs were then placed into burlap sacks filled with sand and protected until they hatched and released. In the 2019 nesting season, we were able to release over 7,000 hatchlings! Water and Light continues to do this program and you can read more and donate through the link below...

Seattle Parrot Expo 2019
Conservation Made Simple was invited to be apart of the Seattle Parrot Expo, hosted by the Flight Club Foundation, in August 2019. We focused on Visual Ballads and Olympic Rain Forest education because parrots make most people think about rain forests around the world and people forget there is one in their backyard! Visual Ballads Program Launch
December 3rd, 2019
Conservation Made Simple held a fundraiser/program launch night at the Phinney Neighborhood Association. We showed a short film highlighting the goals of the program and had fine art prints for sale. With over 45 attendees, we were able to make some corporate connections, attain additional funding, and were able to communicate with the community the importance of the program.
