What is Conservation Made Simple
Conservation Made Simple is a 501(c)(3) non-profit whose goal is to empower people to acknowledge and reduce their environmental impact. We believe that it is possible for anyone to change the environment in a positive way. Today, the Conservation Made Simple team reaches out to people through social media and our programs and projects to inspire individuals, communities, and businesses to build a planet that will thrive. |
History
Conservation Made Simple was originally an Instagram account called Conservation Quotes. It was started by our founder and president, Cameron Winkler, to challenge people’s conceptions of wildlife conservation by reading quotes from people they admire. As it started to gain momentum, it was rebranded as Conservation Made Simple and expanded to include actions people could take to live the lifestyle Conservation Made Simple promotes. Posts like fun challenges, invention highlights, news updates, and more quickly joined the inspiring quotes. Conservation Made Simple soon expanded to Facebook, took on a new logo, established a team of people with similar mindsets, and became a 501(c)(3) non-profit. |
It is a Bird's Tale
So what's the story behind the logo? When our founder Cameron Winkler was developing the idea of Conservation Made Simple, he would spend hours with Blueberry, a Sulawesi Wrinkled Hornbill from his local zoo. The Sulawesi Wrinkled Hornbill, which is classified as a vulnerable species and is often mistaken for a toucan, became a perfect icon for Conservation Made Simple’s environmental conservation and education efforts. |
