Conservation Made Simple (CMS) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit whose goal is to empower people to acknowledge and reduce their environmental impact. We believe that it is possible for anyone to change the environment in a positive way. Today, the CMS team reaches out to people through social media and our programs and projects. Our goal for CMS is to inspire individuals, communities, and businesses to build a planet that will thrive.
Conservation Made Simple was originally an Instagram account called Conservation Quotes. It was started by our founder and president, Cameron Winkler, in attempt to help people challenge their thoughts about wildlife conservation by reading quotes from people they may admire. As it started to gain success, it was rebranded as Conservation Made Simple and expanded to include actions to back up our words. Posts like fun challenges, invention highlights, news updates, and more, quickly became the usual among the inspiring quotes. CMS expanded to Facebook, took on a new logo, established a team of people with similar mindsets, and became a 501(c)(3) non-profit.
So what's the story behind the logo? When our founder Cameron Winkler was developing the idea of Conservation Made Simple, he would spend hours with Blueberry, a Sulawesi Wrinkled Hornbill from his local zoo. Quickly, the Sulawesi Wrinkled Hornbill became a perfect icon for CMS because it represents our mission for environmental conservation and education. In the education sector, the hornbill is commonly mistaken for a toucan, its South American cousin. The conservation side is seen in the fact that the Sulawesi Wrinkled Hornbill is a species classified as vulnerable.
Conservation Made Simple aims to create environmental leaders through guidance, education, and film by challenging individuals to alter daily actions, in the furtherance of improving the relationship between human life and the natural world.
